Hello everyone! °˖ ✧◝(^ヮ ^)◜✧˖ ° It’s been a while!
I’m back with an update about our time at Northwest Fan Fest, held at UBC from June 27 to June 29. This time, instead of three separate conventions, NWFF combined Cos & Effect, Anime Evolution, and the Vancouver Gaming Expo all together!
Read on for a recap and some awesome cosplay photos!
On our first day (Friday), the club had our table near the theatre of the Student Union Building. Wow, the building was totally transformed!! There were a lot of artists showing off their pretty goods and even other clubs and organizations that came out to advertise. It was really busy! Of course, the con was packed with awesome cosplays. I made sure to take a lot of photos of them! (´▽`ʃƪ)
There were a lot of events and panels at the con this year! Some highlights included the Walkoff, Cosplay Idol, the Masquerade Ball, and all of the gaming competitions going on in the Gaming Pavilion. Do you think you could have taken everyone on in Mario Kart or League of Legends?!
There was also some performers and dancing events, too. In fact, there were raves on Friday and Saturday night that ended at 2am – I’ll bet that was fun! There were lots of comedy panels too.
( ´ ▽ ` )
At our table this year we actually had some free anime posters and free candy to give out. They were quite popular – nearly all of the posters and candy were given out by the last day! We got a lot of sign ups for our mailing list, which means a lot more new friends in the coming year! (≧∇≦)☆ We also partnered up with the Minicomi table this year. Somehow they ended up doing this…
On Saturday and Sunday, our table was moved to the other side of the building. The traffic was still pretty heavy though; lots of people came to check us out, including some cosplayers. Uwaaaah, some of the cosplays were so great! (*゚ロ゚)
Some of the popular ones this year included How To Train Your Dragon, Kill la Kill, Kyoukai no Kanata, RWBY, Sailor Moon, and Kagerou Project (Mekakucity Actors).
But as always, we had a lot of cosplayers of our old favourites! ^ o ^)
That’s it for NWFF! UBCAni will be at Minicomi next on July 19th, so be sure to look out for us then! Jaa ne~! ♪
