Calling all Anime Club artists! We’re collaborating with SFU Anime and SFU Artists to bring you our very own Halloween Drawing Challenge, LMAOtober (Lower Mainland Artist October)! From October 1st to October 30th, create an art piece in any medium based on our 6 prompts. Every completed prompt earns you +2 raffle tickets towards our prizes, and completing all 6 prompts earns you +6 extra raffle tickets! 🎟️ 🎟️ 🎟️

UBCAni x PRINT: Gekkan Crafts Tano-Kun Art Competition!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our 4 arts and crafts workshops over the last 4 months. We hope you had a good time and learned a lot! This is a reminder announcement that the overarching event of our collaboration with UBC PRINT Arts and Crafts is an art/crafts contest from December 23rd, 2020 to January 2nd 2021 at midnight. Submissions will be accepted via Google form that will be added here at a later date. Please join both our Discord server and the UBCAni x PRINT Collab Discord server for the live events and discussion.

Contest Categories

  • Most Popular/Fan Favourite: For this category we will have publicly open voting on which one people like the most.
  • Best Application of Workshops: This category is based upon which submission the judge’s think used the most elements from each workshop.
  • 2D media: This category is for whichever 2D created piece the judges think is best (ex. a drawn piece of art or a painting).
  • 3D media: This category is for what piece of 3D art piece the judge’s think is best (ex. a sculpture or craft).

Prizing

For the winner of our Most Popular/Fan Favourite we will be giving away a Huion Graphics Tablet valued at $80!

For our 2D media prize, we have an exclusive Demon Slayer key frame art print from the Ufotable Cafe in Tokyo valued at over $50 USD!

For the 3D category, we have an anime figurine and keychains TBA!

And finally, for the Workshop category, we have an 80 piece marker set!

UBCAni Artists 2017-2018 Anthology

Hey guys!

This year, we’ll be doing an anthology as our artist project! The theme will be fantasy/RPG. Whether it be heroes, demon lords, or magicians, anything fantasy-related will be welcome! The type  of submissions we’ll be accepting are either short comics or an artwork. For the rules:

  • Submissions may only include original characters or either of our mascots
  • The size of the submission should be B5 (with 0.125-inch bleed)
  • For comics, we will expect left-to-right format
  • Please use this format to structure your submission

The deadline will be January 31st, 2018. Please note that there will be no extensions.

Art Contest: Artbook Cover and 20th Anniversary!

We’re making an artbook this year featuring our many talented artists, and like all books, it will need a cover! We’ll be holding a contest to decide which artwork will be featured. The theme will be UBC Anime Club’s 20th Anniversary.

The art book will be B5 in size. You can choose to submit:
A. A single artwork that fits for both front and back cover
B. An artwork for front cover AND another artwork for back cover

The rules:

  1. You must be a member for the 2016-2017 year.
  2. You may submit multiple entries.
  3. All submissions must be original. This means no content from any other artist, anime, manga, or any other copyrighted material.
  4. Artworks should represent UBC Anime Club in some way – you may use our mascots and logo in your entry as you wish.
  5. Entries must be tasteful – meaning no nudity, gore, etc.

Deadline: 3rd JAN (TUE)
Format: PNG, CMYK

Dimension for A: 13.9″ (13.858″) x 9.8″
Dimension for B: 6.9″x9.8″
Safe zone: 0.25″ inside
Bleed: 0.125″ outside

Winner will have their artwork displayed on the artbook cover, and will receive a free copy of the artbook alongside a 10$ gift card of their choice! Submissions that do not win may also be featured inside the artbook as well!

Summer Term Contest: Logo Design

We’re having a contest for a new club logo!

Rules:

  1. Square dimensions! (600×600 pixels)
  2. It must primarily use blue.
  3. No official UBC logos in your design, or any other copyrighted material (the letters UBC are fine!)
  4. If digital, please submit with transparent background and in .PNG format. Non-digital concepts/designs are welcomed (send us a photo of it)!

Deadline: June 14th, 11:59pm

Send your submissions to our email at info@ubcani.com, with subject line “Logo Contest 2016”. Please include a few sentences on how your design represents the club! We are looking for concepts and designs so non-digital design/concept submissions are welcomed!

Winner will receive a $20 gift certificate, chosen from any of our current sponsors, and will have their logo featured on our social media and more for the rest of the year!
